Life as a medical technician in a clinical lab..

Nowadays, since our 2 housekeepers have left, we medical technicians have to be our own maids at times, since the new housekeeper is having trouble coping with all the cleaning workload...added with the increasing number of samples we get from hospitals...I feel like a mad woman at work..anyway, this pic shows the urine samples that arrived, ready to be analyzed...

Everyday, we have to order for more n more stocks...top up anything that needs topping up...By now, I would have been working for almost half a year, n can do urinalysis, all the miscellaneous urine n stool tests, reading fungus plates, culture processing, reading gram stains, afb stains, fungus smear, trichmonas screening, mycoplasma plates, reading blood cultures n calling up doctors for serious cases, an expert for all serological tests which include vdrl (syphillis screening),RA (arthritis factor),WIT/WWF (screen for salmonella n brucella esp for food handlers),ASOT,mycoplasma antibody (esp for babies),TPPA (test for past infection of syphillis),AA(amoebic antibody)...everything learnt except bacteriology..the reading of plates to identify the diff types of species of bacteria infecting our patients' bodies...that may be learnt next year...

On Saturday evening after a hard full day at work, I went to 'The Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant' with my boss n some colleagues to have dinner with our past housekeepers...the fish head was what everyone was looking for..everything was fantastic..n the ambience of the restaurant was the most informal one I've ever been in...everyone feels @ home...

To top it all up, my best weekend is on Sunday, cos that's the only day I had last week to spend value time with my loved one...we went to his friend's wedding...it was beautifully lavished with golden decorations n some fresh flowers..n the variety of food they had were great...Of course we couldn't help ourselves admiring the whole event..lol..cos I forgot to take any pics of the place... All in all, I am looking forward to my one full week of annual leave as well as my birthday this May!! Will update on that later...
