HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
4 JAN 2008, marked the 46th anniversary for my mother's birth date... shared resources with my siblings to buy her a gorgeous ice-cream cake ( courtesy of Swensens ) entailing a rich taste - a fusion of raspberries and blueberries compounded into the 1kg cake...leaving an indescribable tingling sensation at the end of ur tastebuds at every bite...
The best gift we've ever given her to date.... a handbag carrying one of the latest designs off the shelves from a Bonia boutique... quite pricey, yet ironically meaningfully priceless to us...
Went to visit the Singapore Science Centre with hubby a few days back... and we felt thrusted into feeling like small children again... especially inside the gift shop ( we spent almost an hour there ), which carries a variety of toys... even those dating from more than 23 years back... inevitably bringing so many nostalgic childhood memories... [I will give way to my hubby to elaborate further on our escapade in this blog...]
A beautiful, timeless, melancholic song I happened to chance upon in Imeem.com... and will love to share with you... this song seems so simple yet never failed to tug at my heartstrings whenever it is played... bringing in an uncontrollable surge of emotions of the pains and sufferings of the oppressed minorities living in Afghanistan...
Under the Taliban's strict and merciless military ( yet religiously twisted ) regime...the saddest part is they are powerlessly forced to live in a world so full of desperation for survival and despair they do not have any room in their lives to even dream like us... their essence of everyday life is based on hope, clinging on their strong faith in God... something we, the more fortunate ones will never really understand unless the picture is turned around to us...
This knowledge I gained from watching documentaries on National Geographic and a book called ' The Kite Runner' by Khaled Hoseini... ( will be looking forward to his latest book called 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'...)
