Movie review - The Dark Knight
Managed to squeeze in time to watch 'The Dark Knight' with my hubby on Tuesday evening - as promised, cos it's been quite some time since we caught the last show & we already missed 'The Happening' since I kept postphoning... There's always so many things to do, but so little time... :)
It was one of the best action hero movies show I've ever watched in my entire life! It was definitely worth every penny I paid and it practically blew me away... The entire show is gripping and full of climax scenes, leaving you hanging at the edge of your seat....
The 'Joker' - played by the extremely talented Heath Ledger, never fails to consistently inject a feeling of dread and disgust in me with his intense action violence topped with a sick sense of humor...
However, I must admit though on a scientific level that I agree with 'Joker's philosophy ( which he used to justify his actions & to brainwash Harvey Dent aka Two-Face ) regarding the human race... Everyone has the evil and selfish side in them that they suppressed due to civilisation and meritocracy... but when subjected to extreme circumstances and emotional/psychological desperation, survival instincts will automatically come into play... ( as portrayed during the 2 ships hostage situation )
He also mentioned the 'Chaos Theory', whereby if a major component of a plan is tweaked or misplaced, all hell will break loose...because it affects the whole scheme of things, which was planned in advance...
An example I can think of is the war on terrorism... if the whole city of Iraq is massacred just to find a handful of terrorists, it's alright because it's part of the plan... it was already predicted soldiers and innocent civilians have to die... But, if the president of USA was assassinated in the middle of the war, everything will be chaotic because that wasn't the plan... the 9/11 event is a good example of such a chaos...
I was surprised how such a sick, merciless and dangerous psychomaniac can be highly intellectual, far surpassing the intelligence units in Gotham city... his plans never fails to be smoothly executed, which is too far-fetched... yet I strongly feel I have to salute Mr Christopher Nolan for crafting such a wonderful masterpiece at the end of it all...
The strongest character in the movie was definitely the 'Joker' & the weakest link has to be the damsel in distress, 'Rachel Dawes' - played by Maggie Gyllenhaal... her facial expressions fail to bring the expected strong emotions required during some intense scenes....
All in all, it was heart-stopping and every bit enjoyable to watch with family and friends after a tiring day...
Catch phrase of the day : 'Why so serious ?'
Rating : 5/5 stars
