My Top 3 List of Most Addictive Downloadable Games

Been spending most of my leave days playing downloadable games and intermittently reading my CSI book... met my hubby yesterday evening for a good full body workout in the gym... lasting about an hour before running some errands and enjoying a fulfilling dinner at Long Johns Silver at Tiong Bahru Plaza...

So, my current top 3 most addictive games are as follows...

1. Turbo Subs

This game was so enjoyable I completed the whole game in one day!! Extremely addictive especially for people who love fast-paced time management games... Simple, yet beautiful and colourful graphics with cool add-ons to your shop as you progress along each stage....

Similiar in concept to those of Cake Mania and Diner Dash.... having to handle customers bearing different temperaments and palates... In comparison to the other 2 previous time management games, Turbo Subs is the easiest to obtain a full expert score for all levels... the hardest being Diner Dash...

( read: I have yet to complete Diner Dash 4 : Hometown Hero... it's so difficult to even reach your goal, let alone the expert score... different tactics play a crucial role to winning each level )

2. Chocolatier 2 : Secret Ingredients

Similar to Lemonade tycoon, but this game allows you to produce chocolates, with different recipes, from different factories spread over continents....

You have the freedom to play around with your budget at hand, take up projects offered by distribution and commercial companies within a stipulated amount of time...

Interesting part is having to buy the ingredients for your chocolates from different places, prices affected by the economy, demand and supply of a certain ingredient...

3. Mystery Case Files

By choosing Mystery Case files, I include all the different versions it entails... from Prime Suspects, Ravenhearst, Huntsville to the latest addition : Madame Fate. Extremely challenging game, as per compared to other similiar games like Blood Ties, Dream Day First Home and Hidden Secrets : The Nightmare.

Completed the full version of Prime Suspects and Ravenhearst... the ending is so cute for the former.... I didn't expect Osama Bin Laden as the last boss to defeat...haha!!

[ Will update this list soon to make it a Top 5 instead... still scouring around for games that deserve my time and interest ]

articles of note...

Chanced upon an interesting article 'Probing the Unknown' in SundayTimes newspaper, 20 January 2008... it gives a brief overview of my jobscope as a medical technician, as well as other lab-related professions, accompanied by helpful pictures of the machines we use.

This will undoubtly enable the public to appreciate and understand the jobscope of the people working behind the scenes, yet serving as an important asset to doctors in the diagnosis of patient's conditions...

I'm so glad important faces from the different specialties of pathology were featured too... It's high time the public recognise the hardwork of these people who made a difference to our lives by researching cures to recent outbreaks... from Sars to dengue to malaria to fusarium keratitis infection of contact lens in 2006, etc...

Another interesting article, 'Working with Gen Y' can be found in THE STRAITS TIMES, 23 January 2008... on the last page of Recruit section....

The author, Guy Day, has obviously done much back-breaking research on the Generation Y, those born between 1982 and 2000, and on how employers can fully utilise this hardworking generation by first understanding their temperaments and needs.

Myself belonging to this generation, I can identify myself very well with some of the points he listed...

'1. Gen Y-ers like freedom, place importance on diverse experiences and are socially driven.

2. They are young, smart, able to grasp concepts quickly and are used to adapting to different situations.

3. They value things other than an office with a harbour view, impressive job titles and high salaries.

4. They also seek creative challenges and view colleagues as vast and useful resources from whom to gain knowledge.

5. In their mind, the boss is not always right. Gen Y employees want their suggestions to be heard by their employers. ( this is so me!! )

6. Gen Y workers are comfortable with constant feedback and recognition from others and feel lost if communication from their employers are irregular.

7. Gen Y workers have high expectations of themselves and their employers. They aim to work faster and better than others, and they want fair and direct managers who are highly engaged in their professional development.

8. Gen Y employees are less likely to respond to the traditional type of command-and-control style. In fact, they are more receptive to mentorship programmes.'

Start of my one week leave..!!!

Tomorrow will mark the first day off work... taking my mind and time off work for a week just to wind down and relax... working in stat clinical lab is getting more and more challenging, as one of my seniors is taking a long medical leave soon ( torn his shoulder ligament while heaving down a heavy box )....

Which leaves me with the responsibility to learn fast so as to be able to take over things when the need arises, considering the manpower in lab is rapidly dwindling due to certain work scheduling reasons + off days for those working weekends...lol.. I hope my colleagues will strive well without me around.... stress can be good once awhile...

Most probably will be spending most of my time lazying around at home, reading books, cooking up ideas to do new crazy things, and lots & lots of game downloads... have yet to decide which game I really want to buy from bigfishgames.com despite downloading so many games...

So fickle.... I get sick of games fast unless it's really engaging like gold miner It's really a must try!! Don't tell me I didn't warn you beforehand how addictive it can be, especially if you constantly seek challenges in life like me....

Will make my own list of recommended downloadable online games soon enuff....

So what's new?

Wounded my finger today while playfully nudging my cute cat... didn't know cats can be soo moody despite having such a relaxing day to day schedule of activities...playing, eating and sleeping...lol

Saw a well-known Malaysian director, Aziz M Osman, at Adam Road eatery yesterday evening.... but did not manage to get a good picture of him due to my nerves & excitement getting the better of me and not wanting to come off as a paparazzi...

(read: people noticed me more than the fella coz I was so excited I was unconsciously jumping up & down, squeezing my hubby's arms..haha )

Currently reading TSGS ( TRUE SINGAPORE GHOST STORIES ) PART 17... being such a huge fan of true horror, it's such a cool book I'm taking my time to absorb the essence of horror at it's best, that is to read the chilling tales only near midnight....

What I've been up to....

Had lunch right off work yesterday afternoon, around 2pm, with my uncles, my grandmother, my bro n my mum @ Seoul Garden ( Bugis Junction branch )... in celebration of my uncle's birthday... what we adore about the restaurant is the Korean concept it carries - it allows us to cook our food just the way we want it to be - for example, if you feel like grilling your meat to well done, go ahead...

A large grill is provided with a soup of choice in the middle of the table, and the variety of raw and cooked food is amazing... ranging from seafood to marinated chickens of diff flavours... to dessert you can make to your liking... my mum made her own version of ice kacang and I made my own version of coke float, only with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla... hehe

Conducted a personal tuition session after that, followed by a refreshing, heart-pumping long distance running workout with my hubby to end the day... Today, had been a more relaxing one... spending time with my dear at Queenstown library followed by relaxing, scenic walk in the newly opened Terminal 3 @ Changi Airport, despite the crowd... will let my dear faee elaborate on that one in his own entry...

Upcoming events I'm looking forward to share with u...
1. Sport climbing proficiency session( signed up for 3 Feb class )
2. Singapore Airshow 2008 ( booked tickets for 24 Feb )
3. Riding on the newly opened singapore flyer ( to ride on Feb )

Book review ' Picture Perfect'....

'Picture Perfect' by Jodi Picoult is a masterpiece by itself... a story told unlike any other... it is about a couple who seems to have everything you can ever dream of in your life.. fame, money, beauty and love... a love so deep it hurts... everything is so superficially perfect nobody has any vague idea how it truly is from within...

I feel the best way to describe this storyline is by the song embedded with this blog entry... 'Stranger' by Hillary Duff..... which reminds me of a saying.....
' sometimes the pain of holding on is greater than the pain of letting go...'

rating = 4 stars ( it was a very painful, no holds barred experience reading this book as Picoult lets you in on the deepest details of Cassie's life...heart-wrenching.. not for the weak-hearted...)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

4 JAN 2008, marked the 46th anniversary for my mother's birth date... shared resources with my siblings to buy her a gorgeous ice-cream cake ( courtesy of Swensens ) entailing a rich taste - a fusion of raspberries and blueberries compounded into the 1kg cake...leaving an indescribable tingling sensation at the end of ur tastebuds at every bite...

The best gift we've ever given her to date.... a handbag carrying one of the latest designs off the shelves from a Bonia boutique... quite pricey, yet ironically meaningfully priceless to us...

Went to visit the Singapore Science Centre with hubby a few days back... and we felt thrusted into feeling like small children again... especially inside the gift shop ( we spent almost an hour there ), which carries a variety of toys... even those dating from more than 23 years back... inevitably bringing so many nostalgic childhood memories... [I will give way to my hubby to elaborate further on our escapade in this blog...]

A beautiful, timeless, melancholic song I happened to chance upon in Imeem.com... and will love to share with you... this song seems so simple yet never failed to tug at my heartstrings whenever it is played... bringing in an uncontrollable surge of emotions of the pains and sufferings of the oppressed minorities living in Afghanistan...

Under the Taliban's strict and merciless military ( yet religiously twisted ) regime...the saddest part is they are powerlessly forced to live in a world so full of desperation for survival and despair they do not have any room in their lives to even dream like us... their essence of everyday life is based on hope, clinging on their strong faith in God... something we, the more fortunate ones will never really understand unless the picture is turned around to us...

This knowledge I gained from watching documentaries on National Geographic and a book called ' The Kite Runner' by Khaled Hoseini... ( will be looking forward to his latest book called 'A Thousand Splendid Suns'...)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Wishing everyone a very happy new year and may the new year brings great joy and success in every endeavour in life...Gleneagles Hospital held a Christmas cum New Year lunch for all its staff...there was so much glorious food served - from turkeys, to Indian, Malay & Chinese cuisines...my fav was the choc logcake which tasted the richest of all...

Concurrently reading 2-3 books, so I haven't completed anyone of them to write a book review here yet...coming up soon, no doubt... speaking of books, reminds me of the incident whereby my hubby & I met Russell Lee; a famous local author, well-known for writing spine-chilling ghost stories..he was launching his latest sequel of True Singapore Ghost Stories Part 17 in Popular bookstore in Jurong Point...there was such a long queue that I decided to buy his book next time in other Popular bookstores with stock...
