life is not a bed of roses nowadays...

Considering having to juggle 5 kids ( 4 sitting for O-lvls tis yr )to teach personally every week, reading up materials ( self-study ) from scratch to update my knowledge on haematological concepts to understand better what's going on in the stat lab (gleneagles) I'm working in right now, as well as keeping in shape (running at least twice a week with a slot of gym), and spending valuable time with my hubby left almost n time for me to go online to update this blog...hehe..the latest thing I did to myself was to cut my hair short n went for a complete rebonding!!

My current read for this week is rather interesting.."the new Conspiracy Reader", a compilation of articles by experts of conspiracy theories spanning the world's headlines everyday...who will make u crack ur brain n open up ur mind to look at a certain topic or discussion from another perspective...ranging from terrorism issues to paranormal to science n even warfare technologies...

Missed the opportunity of a lifetime last week (read : due to work commitments) to follow my family n relatives to Batu Pahat in Malaysia to visit some relatives there and to provide some financial contributions to those in need...life back there is very simple...n peaceful...n the most beautiful part I missed is joining the gang hiking up a hill ( almost 1000m high )to enjoy bathing under a beautiful waterfall..( everyone didn't make it to the top however..lol )...but made it down down with bloody legs (sucked by leeches!!!muahaha!!!)n they enjoyed small waterholes along the way...here's one of the vids taken while they were trekking uphill Sri Medan in Batu Pahat (Johor)....

work hard, play hard!!

Despite being away from work for almost 3 days nw, I'm still working hard with my hubby to keep my body in shape n build up my stamina for the upcoming 'Shape Run' nxt month...can't wait for the real event to start, considering the great gift packs n health vouchers amounting to almost $900 that I'm gonna receive after completing the race, as well as a certificate of participation n my bib to keep for memory sake...hehe...worked so hard in the gym especially( 2 days ago), that I can still feel my muscles aching til now...my legs are still good though, no aches whatsoever...

Been trying to keep up with my readings as well as read up on haematology concepts before I go back to gleneagles tis friday...the concepts are quite tough considering there's so many ranges and figures u have to memorise, keeping in mind the stories told beyond those figures...so as to be able to explain to any doctors quering for interpretation of results later...Most importantly though, been spending LOTS of time with my loved one - my hubby!! slacking arund hard, but we reminded each other not to forget our goals n the achievements we have planned to complete by the end of each day....

almost a week off work!! yahoo...!!!

So happy since today is the beginning of my days off work- in the lab, but still giving personal tuition as per normal...days working in gleneagles is very interesting cos I'm still in the learning phase mode...more still to learn, n even borrowed a haematology txtbk from a colleague..(read: posted to haematology departmt)...discovered a laundry service there which I find cool, and a snack bar!! ( my fav spot back @ arc lab )..have to come back to arc lab (the main lab) to do late shift though...very tiring doing processing n gram reading...(as I normally take charge of serology n urinalysis section)...

Anyway, sooner or later I will be taught how to handle the blood bank deptmt ( the most stressful n nerve-racking section!! )...swell...when the going gets tough, the tough must get going...

Went to chill out with my friends yesterday after half-day work n slacking with my hubby @ the library..(my colleagues back @ arc..) til quite late as they said they missed me as they won't be seeing my face going back to the main lab until 2 weeks later...went for dinner @ 'Secret Recipe'- the food is 2/5, n the service is quite unbearable considering the waiter dropped my fren's orange juice into her lap, n very slow service....

went by foot to bugis after dinner, just to take pictures in neoprint!! we had a swell of a great time...followed by hugs of friendship at the end of the day....going out with my family for lunch later @ 'Eatzi Steakhouse' before teaching tuition, n go running with my hubby, n continue with another session of tuition at nite....life is so hectic..
(A short, blur video of our family @ Eatzi Steakhouse..)

life must go on as usual...

Just lost a loved one - my grandfather, on the 23rd of Aug, when he fell down n died instantaneously...the doctor confirmed the cause of death as due to congestive heart failure n ischaemic heart disease..easy said..heart attack..my whole family will be holding several sessions of prayers recital these few days...including today itself- in remembrance of all our loved ones who have gone...

Latest news - will be posted to Gleneagles Hospital Stat Lab coming wednesday, but have to come back several times to ARC lab to do late duties...due to insufficient staff capable of doing the late duties...will be buying lunch for all my colleagues as a token of appreciation for all the times they have taught me new things in the lab...

On a lighter note... watched 'The Simpsons' movie...it was fantastically hilarious!! expect to laugh off your seats!! :) but the content was thin though...the humour was almost in every second of the show... great cartoon to relax your minds n destress...!!

gonna miss my frens!! waah!!!

Recent news at my workplace proved quite devastating to my colleagues esp my boss ( my lab manager )....Apparently my lab operations manager have decided to post me to gleneagles stat lab next month onwards...it was within short notice and everyone- including myself- was shocked with the sudden decision to train me in areas other than microbiology... We were almost like family now...colleagues turned frens...sacrifices made together along treacherous journeys involving projects n crazy workloads...crazy jokes we exchanged...will be missing them lots..( esp our snack wardrbe..hehe..)..thank you to all the people in micro lab who have made my life more colourful each day, n the lessons I learnt along the way were invaluable...will be working harder in gleneagles hospital so that I can come back to arc lab by next yr itself....missing u guys lots!!!! muah!!!

On a personal note...the last few days when my hubby went away for national service was painful...can't imagine how it will be like wen he's working or required to go overseas for other commitments n stuffs....

my current read is regarding Forensic Controversies involving Napolean to O.J Simpson in the last 2 centuries...a review n thorough brainstorming of all previous cases not really solved yet...til today itself...interesting book to pick up, esp for forensic enthusiasts like me!! :) looking forward to catch 2 shows - The Simpsons & Harry Potter!! might be buying advanced tickets for Saturday show or someting....n need to brush up on my running slots starting nxt week...to prepare for my 5k race in Sept!!

spent my weekend relaxing around...

My weekends were used to relax as much as I can with loved ones as I'll have no more off days in the coming 2 weekends....went for a Thai herbal full body massage ay Aura Royalis...( read: my first time going to a spa..)..to destress stiff muscles all over my body...it was fantastic! the ambience was super relaxing that I almost fell asleep nearing the end of the massage...sigh...will be looking forward to another massage appointment nxt month together with a full facial....maybe with a friend...

Spent the rest of the day slacking around with my hubby, n went to East Coast Park to enjoy the scenery of the beach...we actually managed to catch 2 apaches in the sky, hovering low over the sea, practicing for the National Day Parade...it was cool but too far away to capture an image....Will be looking forward to watch Harry Potter n The Order of The Phoenix ( read: all great seats are always taken up nowadays, considering the show just opened)...may have to read the book all over again cos I kinda forgotten who the different characters were...lol...

wow...it's July already?

The month of July--time flies so fast-- n there's never an end to the things I have to do...it's getting more n more stressful @ work as I'm taught to perform ANA (anti-nuclear antibody) n entrusted to do it on mon,wed n fri...yikes...but given 2 days off on the weekend! yeah!

Went to an animal fair last Sunday with my mum n sis, but missed the cat contest, which was the first part of the fair...( went a bit late )...but managed to catch a dog show...the animals left to be adopted (a cat, some bunnies...the dogs were already taken)...I was surprised to see so many animal lovers there...obviously the response was good...n I amused myself by watching other ppl's pet dogs...so cute! donated some money to the cat welfare society n bought some cute bookmarks they made themselves...

Had a small pot luck party with a bunch of close frens cum colleagues at lunchtime ( on Friday, the only day I don't eat lunch with my hubby cos he needed to pray..) spaghetti was the main dish served with cheesecake n fruit juices...simple but enjoyable n warm...of course...we're always noisy wen we talk...hehe..relieves some stress from work..

My current read for the month is 'The Islamist' by Ed Husain...an autobiography by someone who used to join radical Islamists...but turned over a new leaf in time to share an eye-opening experience with others- regardless of age, sex, race or religion...great book...!!

Registered for the upcoming Shape run on September...a race specially for ladies only (17 & abve)...but signed up for 5k only instead of the Women10K run upcoming October...reason being the former falls before fasting month n the latter falls during fasting mth...( read: a month whereby Muslims practice abstinence from any food or beverage..as well as lust n anger...in remembrance of our prophet n the poor as well as a form of personal cleansing of sins)...will have to try my best to slot some running times with hubby after work...the gift packs are great!

nearing the end of June already? waaaah!!

As I said, time flies very fast nowadays-maybe cos I'm busy trying to juggle everything at once- work, spend precious time wif my bf ( read:even an hour lunch break will do..), fin reading my library books, fin playing my CSI game, teach tuition...anyway, my current read is...still- Angels & Demons by Dan Brown...hehe...I'm taking very long to fin tis book cos the only time I read it is in the train on my 40 min trip to work...

Went to Eatzi Steakhouse with my bf yesterday for dinner, located at Yishun Safra, great food, great ambience! We ordered steak, fettucini with green mussels, buffalo wings n shiitake soup....n felt so full we were barely able to walk properly after that...lol..will look forward to eating there again if we have no idea where else to go for a fantastic, romantic dinner together...

Thought of using the whole of Sunday to rest at home reading my book after slogging so hard the whole week in addition to feeling unwell the whole week n having insufficient slp...but might have to abandon my personal plans soon - might be accompanying my hubby to his fren's wedding in the afternoon, followed by tuition at my house with 2 relatives of mine preparing for their O-lvls the end of this year...

time flies verrryyy fast tis June...phew!

I wonder why time seems to fly very fast tis month...maybe heavy workload? anyway...for the past week has been work, work..and a day off..which was Saturday, 16.6.07...went to KL on a tour led by 2 Malay DJ-celebrities...went for crazy retail therapy @ Petaling Street, Masjid India...(they were having a great sale week) with my mom n sis n uncle...must have good bargaining skills n everything will be a steal!!
( read: bought myself 2 GUESS bags..totes to be exact...a Hugo Boss toilette for me hubby...a cute pair of sandals with big jewels..lol...n some other small necessities )...

it was very tiring though..considering it was just a 2D1N trip...it was worth it anyway considering I paid a measly $99 to stay @ a 4-star hotel, wif 2 breakfast, bus trips to shopping districts n back to hotel..n a yummy visit to a chocolate house...:) came home nearing mid nite and back to work the nxt day

What attracted my attention in the choc factory though, were the variety of flavours of chocs u can never find anywhere in S'pore...e.g. chilli choc, potato chips choc, espresso choc, durian filling choc, tongkat ali choc (ew..ew..)..etc...bought myself- blueberries coated wif white choc, durian filling coated wif milk choc...n tiramisu coated choc...( read: it was pricey though..1kg of choc costs up to 63RM )the tour group will be having a one day trip to KL again for a durian buffet...in a durian farm...lol..on 9.8.07..on National Day! nay..guess I'll rest @ home instead...

The only show I watched for this month was the Zodiac...with my hubby...it was a great show! 4 thumbs up!! It was purely intellectual n was very fast paced...definitely not for a no-brainer...hehe...the movie's depiction of the case was satisfyingly accurate...n was unbiased as they gave viewers 2 sides of the investigation process- one from the police point of perspective, the other from the media's....great show!!

Most imp thing to remember in KL : ALWAYS TAKE A CAB WITH A METER! it really helps save a lot....we were duped 10RM for a 3RM trip!!!...( lasting 5 min..)

month of june....damn tiring

10.06.07

Only a day off work for the month of June..plus part time tutoring of 6 kids under me...ranging from p3 to sec4....very tiring day at work everyday..so I foresee not being able to update this blog often this month...

Which makes me unhesitant to splurge a bit...ok quite a lot..on clothes n food...the latest restaurant my hubby n I went to yesterday for dinner was @ Fig & Olive at Vivocity...the weekend crowd was crazy!! but it doesn't but the crowd at Orchard...with crazy flea sales...a small band performance...teens everywhere...so much so we abandoned our plan to watch the show 'ZODIAC'...tickets sold out..n the next timing was too late to catch..considering I promised my parents not to reach home til midnite...

Food @ Fig & Olive was tremendously authentic...full of herbs n the salad has fantastic fusion of tastes to it...leaving a slight burning down ur throat...something new that I hav tasted...service-wise...not too good though..considering we had our Coke Float only after finishing our appetiser, soup n main dishes...and making 3 requests for our Coke!! Instead of scowling like what some might do...we decided to clap sarcastically wen our drink arrived...lol...it's cute how my hubby can read my mind..cos it wasn't planned...we just celebrated the arrival of our coke spontaneously...as if it was a birthday cake..hehe :)

Next Sat(16.0606) is my off day.. and I will be going to KL with my family fr 2 days...away from busy Singapore n my hubby..sulk...will try to update my blog mre often...arios

vesak day...a day off work..sigh..

Woke up late today...gonna miss doing that for the month of June..since my work schedule shows I have to work like a dog..lol...goin to Manhattan with my family later n just blogging to past time...

Which reminds me of yesterday, after work I met my bf aka hubby...we went to Vivocity to walk around n just chill out and....we got ourselves seated in Earl's Swensen with a very nice view of the Harbour n Sentosa....it was simply a relaxing moment for us to enjoy dinner with a beautiful view of sunset...we enjoyed the clam chouder, fries, pasta set n finished off with a chocaholic's sundae...( read: it was dark choc n wasn't really my fav...so u guess who's the choc-crazed person here...)

After dinner we dragged our feet around the whole place in circles...moving with the crowd..just window shopping...like what my hubby suggested...but ended up buying a beautiful blouse for myself at RED...sigh...nothing beats retail therapy n food therapy...hehe :)
Something unforgettable happened at the end of the day in the car...we were joking n arguing over crazy things when I offered a challenge over who can sms faster ( me doin the manual version while he use the dictionary )...since my hubby was adamant it was stupid n slow to type the manual way...when I won hands down...n shouted..( read: I know it was very immature...)...my hubby laughed soooo hard he just puked on me!! I went home after that smelling like sticky chewy choc....sigh...I was too shocked to be angry...(sorry dear...i made u laugh so hard)

sigh...what a way to spend my last day of holiday...

Spent the whole afternoon in the library with my hubby reading my current read : Angels and Demons by Dan Brown (my current fav author)...went to Harbourfront and spontaneously decided to try riding the whole glass cable car, something we had in mind n wanted to do for so long..(read: the journey takes you to sentosa, back to harbourfront, then to mount faber n back to harbourfront center)..and suddenly found ourselves caught in the crowd in Sentosa..( cos I suddenly decided to collect my Islander card since Sentosa is along the way..)...
The whole cable car ride was exhilirating!!( The initial part of the ride consist of me consoling my hubby, but the nearing the end of the ride was vice versa...cos our car kept swaying n making creaking noises due to the strong wind!! )yikes!!And it doesn't help either that my hubby decided to share with me a past fatal accident involving a cable car snapping off midway n dropped into the sea...during the ride itself!! grr...

The crowd in Sentosa were mainly made up of Indian nationals on holiday, probably it's summer holidays for their kids back in India...I personally find most of them quite aggressive and rude...shoving n pushing n making lots of unnecessary chaos here n there...it was truly an eye opener for me...n I may think twice before going to India in the future ( in addition to the stories I heard of groping incidents in their public transports..)

To end the beautiful day, we went shopping for my Ipod nano accessories and settled for a baby pink leather casing for now...as well as bought a pair of perfume for both of us from Adidas..(read: gonna have to buy David Beckam's eu de toilette later...cos the scent is smoldering hot!!) Back to work tomorrow...sigh...time really flies fast when ur having fun...

a video I chanced upon in youtube tat made me drool....

This guy created a very nice video that let me ogle at my dream car in different angles....check out the sound...thats a Beetle VR6 Bi-Turbo for you....awesome babe...only diff is my dream car will have pink flames streaking by the sides...n they're definitely not going to be mere stickers..*wink*...turbo-charged...wingless...and cabriolet-style...hot pink wheels...*drool*

One of my fav pastimes nowadays is carspotting...(read:my hubby knows my taste..) Mercedes SLK, beetles, skylines and lamborginis will be the main ones that can make my head turn n ogle...

my holiday so far...

Sigh....life has never felt any better than this (read: aphrodisiac)...before, it had only been a fantasy but now it's reality!!! muahaha!!( read:but only for a week ) waking up later than usual..not having to go to work or worry bout anything work-related...basically lazying around either with my hubby or the cats @ home...

Read my fav comic strip Cathy (I can relate very well with her), watched Spiderman3 with hubby (it was fantastic, I love the fact Peter's not marrying MJ..hehe), tried making my own gold-leaf embedded brooch clay but failed...read more books...became a game maniac..( tried almost all the latest minigames from BigFish..recommended: FAIRYGODMOTHER TYCOON)...ate out with my hubby at cozy restaurants like Manhattan (aww...not again)..and Delifrance...and the best of all...I got a latest baby in my life!!! (read: it's actually more of a gadget that I've been dreaming of having my whole life..) My sweet bro bought it for my birthday...with my name carved at the back!! :)

FAT..FAT..FAT...is how I feel for the month of May...so much eating n celebration...not to mention celebrating me n my siblings' birthday nxt week @ Grand Hyatt with a few of my close uncles...been discussing with my loved ones regarding making a major career change which takes a whole paradigm shift in my life which definitely will affect all of my loved ones...but if it's confirmed then only will come the revelation....

great weekend!!

Even though I worked full day on last Saturday, I still went out with my colleagues to celebrate me n Syari's birthday, at Manhattan Fish Market in PS (Plaza Singapura)...the weekend crowd was crazy! Everyone almost looked like ants walking in swarms! Lucky for the 3 of us who came from work, Sya n Lijing arrived an hour earlier there to queue up for seats since reservations were not allowed on wkends...

The food....was fantastic! We especially love to ogle at the flaming sets...lol...It was very pricey, yet the whole place has an informal, upbeat n cozy atmosphere to it...simply put...the food was served in a posh style..yet the place sounded like a fish market..ppl chatting n laughing wildly..n we were the main contributors to the noise that day...I decided to bring my baby by tis week to celebrate my b'dae cos we've never actually went to a posh restaurant that allows us to feel at home...

It was actually my first time goin home so late hanging out with friends just basically doing nothing..it was quite sweet of them to abort the idea of a movie since it will be too late for me to catch n they wanted me to hang out with them longer... We were a crazy lot...laughing hysterically now and then making such a din wherever we go...n we actually stopped by a timezone, where we were so amused by the fact that adult couples are spending hundreds of bucks to play a candy scooping game, to win a prized soft toy for their loved ones..(when minitoon sells for less than 20 bucks..) we felt like puking everytime they won the jackpot n still continue to change 50 dollars worth of tokens to try their luck for the next toy..my god! are they too rich n free to be true or are they just plain stupid..!!!??? grr...it was pure heartache looking at these guys wasting money like water..well, maybe some of it was courtesy of the hypnotic children's song on the background tat can set anyone in a trance...I applaud the Japanese makers of this machine...I might want to buy one of those machines for myself one day...just for the candies!! lol...

Will update on what I did for the whole one week of holiday I took off work....

MAY...a memorable month for me...

Yesterday, my family and I went over to my grandparents' house to hold a prayers' ceremony (with the rest of my relatives) in respect to all our beloved ones who have passed on...as well as a celebration for all who are declared mothers n also for all who shared their birthday on the same month as me--MAY!! The food were fabulous, some catered, some pot luck-style...all in all there were so much I didn't really eat everything....we ended the evening watching horror movies--a passion (ALMOST)everyone in the family shared...lol

The cake cutting event was followed by a 'sabo' session-- whereby all the birthday ppl have their faces creamed!!...lol..can't wait for the next big family hangout fun this coming December possibly..barbecuing in a haunted chalet in Changi!! yeah! I'll be taking lots of pics for tat event..for a chance to glimpse into the unknown world..lol My sis gave me tis sweet pillow in the shape of a 'book'..hehe..guess cos I love reading.. :)
Actually, I was supposed to hang out with my friends aka colleagues in the evening to eat out n celebrate one of my friend's birthday...but it was postphoned to nxt Saturday after work...cos some of us couldn't make it...work is as stressful as usual but much more currently...especially when patients diagnosed syphillis (sexually transmitted) positive come back to fight for their dignity...adamant to fight for their innocence...wen all we did were follow protocols n diagnose ppl according to the results of our experiments...sigh..looking forward to my one week holiday to spend time doing stuffs with my family n loved ones!! keep up to date!!

Sunday, May 06, 2007

great week!

My hubby n I spent the entire day together hanging out-- watching the horror movie I was looking forward to 'Jangan Pandang Belakang',( the show was great n quite freaky sound effects!) went to Geylang (something I've been wanting to do for so long..) to shop for new headscarves n clothes...there were so many beautiful choices to choose from!! Sad thing is, my body is too small to fit in the smallest sizes they carry...so we ended up buying clothes in Joo Chiat instead where this lady carry clothes for petite ppl like me...lol

Went to survey for my hubby's toys (those things guys love to buy..car related things..etc) n enjoyed lunch at one of our fav hang out place, Harbourfront Banquet, n went to Queenstown library just to enjoy what we both love doing.. reading...( read: I was actually busy playing downloaded games in hubby's lappy!! someting I haven done for soo long!) We ended the beautiful day watching sunset whilst having ice-creams @ Yishun dam..just enjoying the people n the beautiful scenery before saying our goodbyes...thank you dear for the great day on Sat! muah!

We will go watch 'Spiderman 3' by this month..since my hubby already accompanied me to watch my horror movie..which he doesn't really fancy from all the noise n grunts he made throughout the movie...lol...call me a nerd, but my current read this month is forensics-related...n is gonna be my life goal...

Life as a medical technician in a clinical lab..

Nowadays, since our 2 housekeepers have left, we medical technicians have to be our own maids at times, since the new housekeeper is having trouble coping with all the cleaning workload...added with the increasing number of samples we get from hospitals...I feel like a mad woman at work..anyway, this pic shows the urine samples that arrived, ready to be analyzed...

Everyday, we have to order for more n more stocks...top up anything that needs topping up...By now, I would have been working for almost half a year, n can do urinalysis, all the miscellaneous urine n stool tests, reading fungus plates, culture processing, reading gram stains, afb stains, fungus smear, trichmonas screening, mycoplasma plates, reading blood cultures n calling up doctors for serious cases, an expert for all serological tests which include vdrl (syphillis screening),RA (arthritis factor),WIT/WWF (screen for salmonella n brucella esp for food handlers),ASOT,mycoplasma antibody (esp for babies),TPPA (test for past infection of syphillis),AA(amoebic antibody)...everything learnt except bacteriology..the reading of plates to identify the diff types of species of bacteria infecting our patients' bodies...that may be learnt next year...

On Saturday evening after a hard full day at work, I went to 'The Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant' with my boss n some colleagues to have dinner with our past housekeepers...the fish head was what everyone was looking for..everything was fantastic..n the ambience of the restaurant was the most informal one I've ever been in...everyone feels @ home...

To top it all up, my best weekend is on Sunday, cos that's the only day I had last week to spend value time with my loved one...we went to his friend's wedding...it was beautifully lavished with golden decorations n some fresh flowers..n the variety of food they had were great...Of course we couldn't help ourselves admiring the whole event..lol..cos I forgot to take any pics of the place... All in all, I am looking forward to my one full week of annual leave as well as my birthday this May!! Will update on that later...

sharing my durian with my cat...

This cat of mine which I called BABY luuurvessss to eat durian...apparently I was enjoying just a piece of durian...when he came up to have his own bite...

Iiftirash

Didoakan agar kita semua dirahmati Allah SWT.
Dari Abu Hamid al-Sa`idi ra., katanya:
"Aku melihat Nabi Muhammad saw…..Apabila Baginda saw duduk pada rakaat yang kedua (Untuk membaca tahiyyat awal), ia duduk di atas kaki kirinya dan menegakkan kaki kanan (Duduk iftirash)….."
Hadith shohih riwayat Bukhri.
Pengajaran hadith:
1. Disunatkan duduk iftirash pada tahiyyat pertama.
